I have finally gotten some pics of some of my finishes. This first is a mermaid that I did over a year ago that has been hanging in my cousin's shop (Unique Lee Yours). I loved working on her and her tail is a sight to behold with tons of metallics and beads.

I worked on this piece for about 9 months and she was so worth it.

I have fallen in love with these limited addition Nora Corbett kits. They are fast to stitch and the Cresent Colour (hand dyed threads) are phenominal to work with. I am currently working on the Valentine Fairy to accompany my Halloween Fairy to my cousin's shop for display.

Next I will do the Christmas Fairy who is charming!

Last this piece is one that I did a long time ago but just now finished into a pillow for my fiancee's grandmother who is 99 for Christmas. I loved the way it worked so well with the satin and it feels wonderful. I hope she likes it as much as I enjoyed working on it.
Well, more stitching and house work calls.
Cheers!

More Home Improvement

Home improvement can also mean wearing cool costumes. I look as if I am ready for battle. Now that the texture is done on the walls I am beginning the painting process. I have primed the walls and will be on to color this week. It will be interesting to have that room at least painted and clean again. I wanted to have the painting done for Thanksgiving.
Once the painting is done I will move on to the next room. I have been trying to do one room at a time so I don't get overwhelmed. The plan is to do flooring work for the living room, hall, and two bedrooms in January.
I am excited to see how the room will look once complete. You can see the color and pattern here of the flooring that will be used.
I will say one thing about this experience...I have learned patience.
My mother will be so pleased! :)

Happy Halloween

Halloween brings out all the fun people in my life. I have spent the last several days helping my friend with his costume. I think he could definately pass for the real Gene Simmons.

I love Halloween it is such a fun day to just let loose and play!

We had the most unusal weather here. It was absolutely gorgeous! Temperatures in the 70's and sunshine! Ususally you have to wrap up in your warmest clothes but not this year.
It won't be long I am sure until we are complaining about the cold but we have been treated to a glorious fall this year.

Home Improvement

For any of you who have entered the exciting world of home improvement you will know where I am coming from. For those of you who haven't let this serve as a warning. Since purchasing our home we have been slowly working on making improvements. I say we, but since my fiancee is away a lot I have been doing the lion's share but since he has allowed me to be at home it is a fair trade. Now that the weather has turned cooler, I have turned my attention to the inside of the house after working on the back yard all summer.
And so it began. the first step was to remove the disgusting carpet and pad that was there. I cannot tell you how awful that job was. Even with no carpet in the room it is much improved
Now, the fun task of re-texturing the living room and hallway. It has begun with "roughing up" the walls and applying joint compound. I am keeping it a bit on the uneven side to include the "knife marks" to give some interest to the surface. Please note that the kitties (Rocky and Nusiance) are trying to "help".
I am also beginning to experiment with color which will really be the fun part. I know I am getting ahead of myself but it really is more fun than the prep work!
So, stay tuned to the wonderful world of my remodel. I will be interesting to see how it all goes.

Mystic Stitching

Welcome to my stitching blog.

My most recently finishes is My Fair Ladybug by Just Nan. I stitched it as a birthday gift for my dear friend who now lives in San Francisco who loves ladybugs!

Currently I am working on a sampler for my fiancee's parent's 50th wedding anniversary. It is from the Jan. 2004 issue of Stitcher's World. I wish I liked working on this piece a bit more as this type of sampler is not my favorite, but it is coming along and I keep myself sane with smaller pieces to break up the monotony. :)
Happy Stitching!
